Pilot Watch: Rob Lowe to Star in “9-1-1: Lone Star”

Fox has handed a straight-to-series order for 9-1-1: Lone Star starring Rob Lowe.

Created by Ryan Murphy, 9-1-1: Lone Star will follow Rob Lowe in the Texas-based spinoff of 9-1-1, which is expected to get a third season at Fox.

Lowe will play a sophisticated cop who relocates to Austin, Texas with his son and tries to balance his life, as well as save the lives of others who are more vulnerable.

“The beauty of having a hit drama like 9-1-1 from the genius minds of Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk and Tim Minear is it allows you to explore thrilling stories as told through an array of distinctive characters. said Fox Entertainment president Michael Thorn.

Rob Lowe is no stranger to television. Over the past decade, Lowe has starred on Parks and Recreation, The Grinder, Code Black, and is currently the host of Fox’s game show Mental Samurai.

9-1-1 adds to the list of network TV franchises that include Dick Wolf’s Law & Order: SVU and Chicago Fire, Chicago PD and Chicago Med at NBC, Wolf’s growing FBI franchise with newly ordered FBI: Most Wanted at CBS, and Shonda Rhimes Seattle-based duo Grey’s Anatomy and Station 19.
