Television’s biggest night is here! The final round of awards for the 71st Annual Primetime Emmy Awards are being handed out tonight, and after months of speculation, I’m going to make my FINAL predictions.
After night one and night two of the Creative Arts Awards last week, my support has swayed a bit, especially for The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, which took home six Emmys last weekend. That being said, it did lose Outstanding Casting in a Comedy series to Fleabag, which leads me to believe the Phoebe Waller-Bridge led series is going to win big somewhere – a surprise Comedy Series win or Outstanding Writing in a Comedy Series, perhaps? The signs point a few major Maisel wins, but I’m rooting for Catherine O’Hara for Schitt’s Creek over Maisel’s Rachel Brosnahan – an upset has to come from somewhere!
Game of Thrones dominated last weekend winning a whopping 10 awards. It’s nominated in seven categories this evening, and while I’m not saying a sweep in imminent, expect to hear “The awards goes to: Game of Thrones” a lot this evening.
Chernobyl cleaned up in the Limited Series categories last weekend, but it was always expected to do well in the craft categories. I fully expect When They See Us to win big this evening, thanks to its Outstanding Casting in a Limited Series win last week, indicting wins in a few acting races, and solidifying its frontrunner status as Outstanding Limited Series.
